What Normal Range Club is

Normal Range Club is a health-education brand for adults who worry about their blood sugar. Its app offers plain-English food and movement guidance based on one person's lived experience — education and everyday habits only, not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or prevention.

What this has actually been like, and everything that goes with it.

A free pharmacy screening picked it up in 2015. I've had type 2 ever since — about ten years now.

People ask me for my numbers. I don't put blood results in public — not mine, not anyone's — and I'll never ask you to show me yours. Numbers are between you and your doctor, and a page like this is the wrong place for them.

What I will tell you is that there were six years in there of running and lifting and doing everything I'd been told, and nothing much moved. That's the part of this I'd want you to hear if you only heard one part.

I was on prescription medication that whole time, and I still am. It hasn't changed.

My own doctor has been in charge of my treatment throughout, and yours stays in charge of yours.

That's my personal experience over about ten years. It isn't typical, it isn't what I'm offering you, and it isn't a plan.

Nobody can tell you which parts of my ten years mattered.

I've read a lot since. I've talked to my own doctor a great deal. And the truthful answer is that I don't know which parts mattered, in what order, or how much of it was the medication, the years, my own body, or luck. Anyone who tells you they can pick that apart from the outside — about me or about you — is guessing at you.

What I'm confident about is much smaller and much duller: I know what it's like to be handed a result and no plan. I know what six years of trying without a system feels like. And I know what was missing the whole time — nothing ever answered at the moment the decision was actually being made. The menu. The fridge. The 7pm what-now.

I don't teach my own experiment. I'd talk you out of it.

What I did to myself was blunt. I changed several things at once, I had no one checking my thinking, and I got things wrong for years at a time. I was, in effect, my own uncontrolled experiment with a sample size of one — and that one was me, not you.

Percy is the opposite of that on purpose. It goes gradually, it changes one ordinary thing at a time, it starts from what you already do rather than from what I did, and it stays inside the boring, well-established end of things — what you eat, how you move, how you sleep, and whether any of it is repeatable on a Tuesday. Your doctor keeps every decision that belongs to a doctor.

Ten years doesn't compress into a shortcut — and I'd be suspicious of anyone selling you one. What I can hand you is a structure, and a straight answer at the moment you actually need one.

What we make

  • A free guide — five ordinary mistakes I made myself, explained plainly.
  • The Percy app — what do I eat, what do I order, should I move, answered in seconds. Free for 7 days, then US$5 a month.

What we will never do

No miracle promises, no "reverse your diagnosis" claims, no medical advice. Education and habits are our whole lane — your diagnosis, treatment, and medication belong with your healthcare team. That's not a legal formality; it's the honest boundary this brand is built on.
